Why We’re Obsessed With Accordions

It all started in the 1990s, when two of Jack’s cherished accordions needed tuning...

...with no local tuners in sight, I (Jack) had to ship the first accordion to a distant shop. Though the instrument returned finely tuned, the wait was excruciatingly long.

Determined to find a quicker solution for my other instrument, a delightful button box, I reached out to Bob Tedrow, a renowned concertina builder and luthier at Homewood Music in Birmingham. Although not local, Birmingham was within driving distance. During our conversation, I shared my background in repairing and building guitars. To my surprise, Bob declined to tune the button box for me. Instead, he encouraged me to do it myself, saying, "You can do this. Come to the shop, and I will show you how!"

True to his word, Bob taught me everything I needed to know: building a bellows table, the necessary tools, the techniques, and most importantly, he gave me a good shot of encouragement. Thank you, Bob!

Today, our shop stands as the only full-service accordion store in the Southeast. We're here to meet all your accordion needs. How can we assist you?
