Repair + Restoration Services

Repair + Restoration

Repair: We troubleshoot and fix specific issues you want remedied, such as problems with certain notes/tones, malfunctioning components, loss of airtightness, damage from handling, tuning issues, installing straps or backpad. Repairs are usually completed within several weeks.

Restoration is more comprehensive involving dissassembly, cleaning, replacing worn components (pads, valves, wax, straps, bellows gaskets/tape/corners), re-tuning etc. - to restore the accordion to near-original playability, airtightness and sound. Restoration can take from a month - to many months.

Estimates

Accordions are intricate instruments! To accurately estimate repair costs, we need to play and inspect your accordion in our shop.

If you're not in the Atlanta area, we may be able to provide a rough estimate from photos you send, or during a video call. Use the link below to find an open time, and BOOK A VISIT for a video call.

Common Scenarios

“I saw a great looking accordion at a yard sale/antique store, on eBay, etc. Buying a used accordion can be risky, unless the seller is a knowledgeable owner who can demonstrate that it is fully playable. Best if the seller allows a return period… in case it turns out that nice-looking $200 accordion needs $800 in repairs to work properly.

“I just received an old family accordion…” We’d love to help it make music again! However be aware: although it may look fine on the outside, certain internal components tend to fail after 40-50 years and must be replaced for full playability. The cost can easily exceed its market value. Of course its value as an heirloom can make the restoration worthwhile for a family.

For heirloom accordions we offer 3 tiers:

1) restore for display

2) restore for basic playability (occasional use)

3) full restoration for near-original performance
